Diljit Dosanjh slams those misreporting his statement on Indian flag at Coachella:

Some people on social media took offence at one of the statements Diljit Dosanjh made during his performance at Coachella. The singer has now asked people to not misreport what he said.

Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh was the first ever Indian singer to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California. He performed twice during the music festival and left his audience impressed. Many videos of his performance were shared on social media. While his many fans cheered for him and applauded him for the lively performance, there were some who took offence at one of the statements Diljit made during the performance. However, the singer has now issued a clarification. He has asked people to not misconstrue what he said if they do not understand the Punjabi language.

Concluding his second performance on the Coachella stage, Diljit pointed at a girl who had the Indian flag in her hand and told the audience, “Eh mere Punjabi bhain bhraawan layi, mere desh da jhanda laike khadi aa kudi, eh mere desh layi, negativity ton bacho, music saareyan da saanjha (This girl is carrying my country’s flag, for all my Punjabi brothers and sisters, this is for my country. Stay away from negativity, music belongs to everyone).”
